Another new library represented in the Directory of Rare Book and Special Collections! Katie Flanagan, Special Collections Librarian at Brunel University, writes:
Although Brunel University had some of its Special Collections in 1997, they didn’t feature in that edition of the Directory, although there was an entry for the University Archives, which hold important collections on education in the 19th century and early children’s books. So it was an exciting task to write our entry for this new edition. Since 2010 we have had a dedicated Special Collections area within the library and we are keen to showcase the collections here at Brunel and increase their use. So far, this has mostly been via Archives Hub for our archival material so the Directory seemed like the perfect opportunity to raise the profile of our printed collections.
